As far as I know, the only 'whole seeds' would be flax seeds; I've never seen anything about "chewing the seeds" in any of Dr. Schulzes writings :)

All the herbs in the formula are ground/powdered, except the flax seeds.  Although some say in the past that the flax seeds were ground, too (which is why we make/offer it with ground OR whole flax seeds).
