I am sorry but this is ridiculous.
Why would dentists un-necessarily remove children's teeth.Dentists dont get paid much to remove a tooth in comparison to other dental treatments (such as crowns/bridges) and they get paid the same amount to remove one tooth as to remove four. So there is no financial motive for the dentist to take four teeth out un-necessarily. Their time can be better spent if they just want to make money.
A lot of children do have not enough space in their mouths for teeth and as part of an orthodontic treatment plan premolar teeth can be extracted to align teeth which would otherwise be crowded and look unsightly. This is all explained to the patient and the patients parent and then they choose whether they want to proceed with treatment, they usually do because they don't like the way their teeth look.
As for x-rays, yes dentists in the olden days did not have them but at the same time they weren't able to diagnose decay that was hidden from the naked eye.
X rays show decay inbetween teeth, decay that cant be seen with the naked eye. If this decay was left untreated it would ultimatley lead to loss of the tooth.
You can refuse x-rays if you so wish but risk having undiagniosed decay that would result in future pain and tooth loss.
Also the xray exposure for a dental xray is the same as 1 day worth of background radiation. It is perfectly safe.
