Don't have surgery unnecessarily.

Have a healthy diet and lifestyle, including a large amount of fresh salads and fruit. Include natural unprocessed plant foods, which contain fiber. Certain foods may cause or be a contributing factor in constipation. Examples include meat and white bread.

Slippery elm is effective for constipation. I suggest, use it.

There are more powerful herbal laxatives. These include Cascara and Senna. These cause peristalsis of the intestines, and should only be used in the most stubborn cases of constipation, and only for a limited time. Once bowel movements have been established, use Slippery elm.

Aloe vera is another option. If you use the whole leaves, they contain both gentle mucilage and those substances which cause peristalsis of the intestines. Some Aloe vera products for sale in shops have had the harsh constituents removed.

There are many other things which can be used for constipation. For example:

Eating an apple with each meal is beneficial for constipation.

The herb dandelion is beneficial for constipation.
