I was on SSRi's for 14 years. I really believe these meds messed up my system terribly. There are many reasons for depression and it would be better to treat the cause than just treat the symptom.

I have been med free for 4.5 years and wish I never would have trusted medical doctors the way that I had. These meds are very hard on the intestinal tract, liver, kidneys and brain. These drugs never solved the problem of adrenal fatigue that I have had for over 30 years.

Many medical doctors follow the rigid path bestowed by the educational system, a system designed by pharma. Pharma wants sales, not cures.

I am very grateful that I found an alternative practitioner who promotes a drug free and natural healing lifestyle. He was the one who discovered the gluten and sugar intolerance which was the main cause of the depression. Once off these offending foods my moods leveled out tremendously. As was mentioned earlier there is definately a gut/brain connection with mental illness. Right around this time I also got my mercury fillings removed. I have not had any major depression or mania for 4 years.

Gluten foods and sugar mess with hormones, especially insulin spikes when consumed.  I'm glad to hear that you've changed your lifestyle and gotten off pharma drugs.

Currently I am doing NB as most of my minerals were very low. NB is also promoting the elimination of toxic metals.
