ihopethishelps, you seem to have had something different than most of us do. my (any many people's on here) lips' dead skin accumulates over the course of 2 days, so that after 2 days, if we get them wet, the skin can be peeled off and usually already looks quite unsighty, so most people do not leave it on. my peeling cycle has been 48 hours since the onset of this condition. after 2 days, i get the lips wet and the dead skin can be pulled off easily without inflicting damage to the tissue underneath. you are talking about a few weeks before the skin would come off. that would be unbearable in my situation. after 2 weeks, the crust formed is already so thick that i wouldn't ever let it get to that point. also, it would scream for being pulled off because getting them wet (which is unavoidable if we eat, brush our teeth and clean our faces regularly) detaches them and they can consequently be taken off without any effort.

about the diet: i know that everyone is different, i can only refer to ONE case on here where a woman got cured over the course of 3 weeks by following the candida free diet: warriorqueen

i'm sure that the leave it alone method works for many people, but other people have internal problems manifesting in peeling lips: those people need to consider a diet or other internal approaches.
not everybody is the same and the causes of and cures for EC vary greatly.
