That sounds plausible. I believe I was especially having difficulty with fat digestion.

I had a period where I was taking zinc and it firmed up my stools (and darkened them). Zinc, I believe, is associated with bile production. Oh, it turns out so is vitamin C. Huh.

Note that "pregnenolone steal"/"cortisol shunt" robs your system of the building blocks for bile. Bile is made by oxidizing cholesterol. (Bile salts also use sodium in their creation.) In "Adrenal Fatigue" our cholesterol-based hormone pathways are messed up, note the dark arrows here:





Our anxious systems route the flow of nutrients to create lots of cortisol. This makes it so that other end-products (like bile and aldosterone) are under-produced.

Ease up the cortisol production (maybe take licorice? definitely relax — do breathing exercises, relaxation exercises, meditation), increase salt consumption, take zinc, get cholesterol in your diet, add dietary fiber, increase vitamin C intake.
