I believe it is one of those myths that iodine kill off the beneficial gut bacterias.
I took loads of probiotics the first and second year of iodine, as I thought I needed to replace the good bacteria. I had no, zero, nada effect of even the best probiotics.
A forum member did a test on youghurt batches, some with iodine, others without. There was no difference; all turned out the same. The post is in here somewhere if anyone care to search for it.
