I never had chapped lips really. They often felt kind of dry, but I did not have chapped lips, ever, even when not using lip balms.

I believe that it is not the same condition for everyone. My derm diagnosed me with something similar to atopic eczema, others where diagnosed with psoriasis... others don't get any diagnosis at all. We have peeling lips, but they are caused by different underlying conditions. As Healing2021 stated yesterday, EC is not a "thing", it is a description of the symptoms. Of course, if you are able to find the underlying condition (trauma by biting, overuse of lip balms, food intolerance, whatever), it could lead to healing, but it doesn't have to.
