I also have Tourette's and have a throat clearing tic. Like your son, there is nothing there to clear when I have to clear my throat. I wish I had great advice for you. The only thing that helps minimize my tics is Haldol. As far as getting him to a doctors appointment, have you tried telling him that the only way he can get medication to make his tics better is by going with you to the appointment? If he's anxious about going to the appointment and leaving his online social life at home, maybe you can bring an iPad or iPhone to the appointment for him to use. Wishing you the best!
