hello.
I have just managed to get my candida more under control and now have to go on a 500mg 4x/day week long course of keflex for a chronic sinus infection.
I was wondering what extra things I could do (besides the obvious, low sugar, 0 alcohol, no yeasts or fermented foods like cheese olives, pickled stuff etc.) to prevent the candida from going absolutely crazy again.
I currently have on hand:
--Candex
--Now foods candida clear (for those unfamiliar is a complex containing Biotin, magnesium caprylate, caprylic acid, oregano oil, black walnut hull, Pau D' Arco, Garlic, olive leaf, cats claw and wormwood)
--1000mg garlic oil capsules (not odorless)
--1g capsules extra virgin coconut oil
--AZO yeast tablets (bonoset and mistletoe leaf in a probiotic base)
--prescription nystatin powder
--1 diflucan tablet (200mg)
(I don't use all of these concomitantly, I have just accumulated them over time, but only usually use a few at a time. I have also been meaning to try GSE and Berberine in the future)
I also have a probiotic supplement which has wayyyyy far fewer active cultures than I think I should be taking (1 billion) and it contains acidophilus with Bifidobacterium lactis
I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a good probiotic for candida protection that wouldn't totally break the bank. and exactly how many active cultures should I be getting. Upon googling the subject, some have said 100 billion, while others have said 25 billion will do just fine. If someone with a bit more knowledge could shed some light on the whole thing, I would appreciate it.
I would also like to know if prebiotics are necessary while taking probiotcs, again I have heard conflicting opinions. (The prebiotics feed the probiotics to help them thrive, correct?)
