Its not enough to just drink lots of water, but how the water is taken into the body. Ideally, water should be sipped throughout the day. It should never be "chugged" with large amounts drunk at one time. Rapidly consuming copious amounts of water in a short period of time is potentially dangerous, even lethal. Rapid consumption of large quantities of water can over tax the kidneys and flush out vital electrolytes. Some college kids have been known to drink large amounts of water because it gives them a high similar to being drunk, however water intoxication can kill. Slowly sipping four to eight ounces of water every hour during waking hours assures that the body absorbs the fresh water, the kidneys can work on removing excess fluid that already contains excess minerals, dead red blood cells, urea, and other unnecessary or toxic contents from the blood. Drinking water throughout the day slowly and regularly is as important as the total quantity that is drunk.
