What is going on?

I am 43 years old. For those of you who are older, do you remember such depression, anxiety and all other mental illnesses years ago? what is going on? I hear more and more of people committing suicide, being committed to hospitals, and dozens and dozens of other horrible stories. I have suffered from depression for quite a while, no medication has helped. Something must be going on. I just don't understand it. My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering, especially since those who don't suffer from it simply don't understand. And I was included in that before I began to suffer from unbearable depression and anxiety. Any ideas on this? Pardon my French, but what the hell is going on??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
