I must admit to agreeing with invisble with the feeling that your happiness is forced. I do see what you mean be choosing happiness, but does happiness equal bitterness?

To truely lose the trappings of needing to meet the status quo you need to put your sights on something that you can obtain happiness through. Having nothing is also a reason for depression. Being happy for happiness' sake doesn't really cut it either. But I can tell you what does. Doing something for someone else with no other reason then to do it. Be it small or large, it doesn't matter. What matters is stepping out of yourself and doing. The first time may not be all that great, but as you continue you will start to feel that true happiness you seem to be trying to "force" into existance.

And while I'm sharing my opinions, turn to Jesus. It's as simple as saying, "I don't know what to do!" It's okay to admit that you don't really believe that turning to Him will help. Just give Him the chance to step in and help out. It'll take a little of the "just doing" that seems a bit forced, but you will get help. That's the road to finding the happiness that you want to have. And along that road you will be given what you need to deal with the physical part of depression, so that it can truly be healed. (As in gone forever)
