The only way to unplug a bathtub drain is to take it apart to the point of the Ptrap which is below and behing the tub! you have to open up the wall behind the tub! Its the only way to get access to the tub waste and overflow and the P trap its connected to! There may be an access panel already in place if not knock out a small section of the wall, large enough to dismantle and re install all the appertenances.
