When do you stop thinking about the anxiety?

So I haven't been on meds for anxiety since the summer. I did a short detox without too many problems. Had a recurrence of anxiety starting Dec. 11 - really bad this time. I started on Lexapro 10 mg for four days of hell. I lost 7 lbs, and was a mess. I went from having panic attacks that were short in duration to having full-blown anxiety all day. Started on some Tranxene 3.75 mg twice/day, which calmed down my nervous system. Then my doc prescribed Buspar. Big mistake. Tried that for 3 days. So I now refuse any antidepressants and stopped taking the Tranxene. Here's the rub. I have minor and mild physical symptoms of anxiety, but cannot stop thinking about it. I can be talking to you, smiling, and in the back of my head chants a non-stop audio tape, saying "Anxiety, anxiety, you might get anxious..." I really can't stand it anymore. I start talk therapy next week, but in the meantime... any suggestions? Also, please don't write anything about EFT. I already know about that.
