i haven't had the vaginal problem, i don't think, but having had other problems - thrush, and possibly a fluke infection - I quite agree that it's worse than having it in you elsewhere. I did a parasite cleanse that seems to have helped, although I'm not completely cured yet. And I don't want to speak too soon, as I have thought I've got this thing beat in the past, and it's come back, and seemingly developed an immunity to the stuff I used to get rid of it before.
For the washing, I found that tumble drying my sheets and clothes for 10 minutes on high heat or until dry got rid of them. I've taken to wearing things that can take heavy tumble-drying. For carpets and things - I used pure distilled vinegar, and then washing-powder to get rid of the smell of the vinegar.
If you go with the Mars rock theory, then yes, these things can get through plastic.
