Re: Narcolepsy

My husband was finally diagnosed last year with narcolepsy. I had always suspected he had it, but, nobody seemed interested in pursuing it.

He could sleep 8 and even 10 hours and be up for less than an hour and already starting to fall asleep. He would have to call me when he drove to and from work because he did not want to nod off asleep while he was driving. It was a nightmare!

When he slept at night, he was never restful. He would be asleep, but, he was always in motion. He would jerk his arms and legs. Talk constantly in his sleep and ven sleep walk. He never seemed to get that restful night sleep at all.

Well, they have put him on a drug that is so new, it can only be obtained in one pharmacy in the whole united states. He takes it at night and he is anew person. He sleeps soundly all through the night. He has a lot of energy whe he wakes up and he doesn't nod off while he drives any more. The drug is called xyrem. (I do not, nor does my husband like relying on drugs for our answers, but, this is the one thing that has worked so far.)
