Thanks for the compliments. =)
Yes, I'm a happy comfy mutt pagan, but, not trying to be too nitpicky, actually, or technically, I wouldn't call myself a non-believer so much as an uber-believer (Thanks, Neitzsche!) I do believe in God, but my God is too expansive to fit in any one 'box'/religion. Jesus is cool. Then again, so is Buddha. And Kali Ma is one serious tough mama. And I'm particularly drawn to Gaia. But no labels or words adequately describe the whole essence of "God." Just think of describing a sunset with only words and then how far more _Everything_ is God than that sunset.....
I just couldn't keep my God couped up in all their little rules and regulations. It seems like the whole fundamental / evangelical deal (no matter what their "Holy Book" is called) gets so wrapped up in the letter of the law they ignore or negate the true spirit. Jesus lays into that attitude again and again (told you he was cool!) Aside from the white washed coffins filled with dead bones (he did have a way with words) I especially like the immediately preceeding lines in Matthew 23: 23,24 "Woe to you teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices -- mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law -- justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel"
Isn't that just a wonderful description of dogmatic action? =)
As far as those hand grenades, well, I did graduate from a Missionary Baptist school so I also received a pretty sound training in the biblical martial arts. I should know better, but sometimes it's hard not to drop back into 'biblical combat mode" especially when those grenades start flying! eh, I'm only human. ;)
