itchy ears

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what might be causing my horribly itchy ears. My ears itch way inside and i have resorted to sticking long things into them, like thin straws, in order to satisfy the itch. i don't have excess wax. I remember my grandmother having the same problem. if i put alcohol into my ears it helps it for awhile, but it also makes me feel kind of ill, so i would like to find something different.
i might add, i am about to start my first parasite cleanse and then will do some liver cleanses, so i hope that might help, but meanwhile it is driving me crazy.
