MSM (methyl-sulfonyl-methane) in place of dairy based sulhur?

hi all, its been a long while since i have posted, but i'm back!
i have been trying the low fat cottage cheese-flax oil combo for the past few weeks, as well as with non fat yogurt, but its been so long since i ate dairy regularly that i'm having a bad reaction... white painful bumps on the scalp (like acne), as well as immediate mucous reation upon eating the mixture... and finally - a severe sore throat and clogged ears over the weekend. all these things appeared once i started the flax-dairy regime on a daily basis.
i initially gave up these foods to reduce my asthma /allergies and it really worked wonders... that was years ago, so i think i don't have the tolerance for them anymore. and i don't think taking lactaid just to be able to tolerate dairy is the way to go...
SO ~ does anyone know if MSM (sulphur supplement) can be mixed with flax oil somehow and be used in place of the dairy?
