Good for you! You sound so much better already. I have been pondering your situation, and like you I am pretty tapped for cash and was trying to think of the things I do that don't cost mucho dinero.
First, I agree with Tracey - drink lots of water. Water's cheap and it really really helps (see " Water Cure " on this site). Also, I am going to guess that there is a possibility that all the antibiotics you took have seriously thrown off the balance of good to bad intestinal flora (I read that you should have about 3 pounds of the "good" flora in your guts - thanks again for that link Tracey). This happened to me as well and is the reason I got dysenterry.
Cheap helpers for this are eating raw garlic a few times a day - and no, it doesn't make you smell like garlic if you eat fresh garlic. This really helps to kill the "bad" bacteria in your system. Low cost. And this will give the good bacteria room to grow back.
Also low cost is eliminating all dairy, refined flour, and try for sugar and caffeine too whiile you're at it. It sounds harsh, but your body will thank you (they spoil in your guts and the bad bacteria love that). Raw foods are excellent, but for your gas I caution you - if you eat any raw fruits or juice, eat them ALONE and eat nothing a half hour before or after. Fruits are great nourishers, but combining them with other foods will cause gas.
Speaking of which, I also highly recommend going to the library (I love it because it saves on buying books) and check out any of the Fit For Life books (Harvey Diamond). They talk about food combining and how to do it and it's really really easy. The basic tenet of this plan is that food, if improperly combined, leads to putrefecation in your stomach and guts and hence can give you major gas (especially acidic foods eaten with base foods, e.g. bread with cheese). Since gas seems tobe your main problem, this I think, would be worth your while. It's simple and effective.
Anyway, I hope this helps and it's great to read that you've developed a battle plan!
