According to Stanley Burroughs, who developed the MC, pure sorghum can be used in place of the maple syrup...but it does not create as complete a 'food' as the pure grade C maple syrup does. Since it is virtually impossible to find organic grade C maple syrup, it may not make a whole lot of difference.

He actually recommends fresh sugar cane juice as the ideal, but again availability is the problem. Just thought I'd throw that in in case you are lucky enough to live somewhere in the tropics! ;)
