"If four people see a car accident they will all have four versions of that same accident. The main important parts of the accident will be the same versions, such as who hit who, but certain peripheral details with be different, such as what kind of hubcaps the offending car had. Or one person will leave out what he thought was unimportant to tell police, such as the two teens at the ice-cream stand, while another may think it was important, let's say, b/c the offending car was driven by a man who was gauking at the young teens, and so hit the other car. (These are examples, probably not perfect ones, but you get the gist of it, right?)" 0 of 0 (0%) readers agree with this message. Hide votes What is this?

Yes and I believe you're exactly right! The books were written by four different men, and each one remembered certain things that meant more to that person, and forgot other details that either he didn't understand, or didn't seem as important to him.
I've never claimed anything bad about the character of any disciple. I know they tried their best to convey the true Jesus and/or God. But you've all verified what I've been saying. The books were written by man. Some books contain certain events in Jesus' life, and other books contain other events in Jesus' life, and all of them contain some events. You can't possibly say it was written by God, or dictated from Gods mouth, or the words of God, except the things Jesus said if you think Jesus was God, and then only a small portion of the Bible would be "Gods words". The four books would be the exact same if it was a true message from God. God's word doesn't change, and is the same now or forever.
The books are the memories about the disciples experiences with Jesus and/or God. Nothing more and nothing less, as all the books of the Bible are. Some things were forgotten, and some things were never understood, and they all tried their best to give their understanding of all the things Jesus and/or God said and did in their life.
As such there are flaws in truth through out the whole Bible, because it is written by man and his limited mind. Am I saying you shouldn't live by the truth in the Bible? Not at all. I do, at least I believe I do. I'm just saying you have to be able to tell spiritual truth from man & church truth, and there is a whole lot more of those truths than spiritual truth.
The only way to tell the difference is by living the life, and this part isn't in the Bible. The Bible gives you the basis to live the life. It's a tool. Thinking the Bible gives you the life, is like saying a hammer gives you a house. In both cases you still have to get out there and use the tool to get the result you want. The Bible can tell you the result of loving God is joy, but it doesn't tell you how to love God. I can't tell you how to love, and you can't tell me either. You have to learn how to do this yourself, and you really have to learn how to love God more than anything else in your life, even more than your life. The Bible says this, but there is no step by step process given in the Bible on how to do this. There can't be.
That's why I say real truth is living truth. Spiritual truth is alive, and can't be written down. So what really matters, isn't in the Bible. That's why I say read it, store it in your heart, and put it away so you can become what the Bible is talking about. Then you will learn what the Bible really is, what the life is, and be able to help others, IF they're willing to learn.
"Happy are the poor in spirit--the humble." To a child, happiness is the satisfaction of immediate pleasure. The adult is willing to sow seeds of self-denial in order to reap harvests of augmented happiness. In Jesus' times and since, happiness has all too often been associated with the idea of the possession of wealth. In the story of the Pharisee and the publican praying in the temple, the one felt rich in spirit--egotistical; the other felt "poor in spirit"-- humble. One was self-sufficient; the other was teachable and truth seeking. The poor in spirit seek the spiritual wealth of God. And such seekers finding truth, do not have to wait for rewards in a distant future; because they are rewarded NOW. They find the kingdom of heaven within their own hearts, and they experience such happiness NOW.
