Tell them these upfront. If the guy really likes you (i.e. if he feels you are the one), he should be willing to wait for you, or even help you heal.

If he doesn't, then his motive is probably not a LTR-leading-to-marriage to begin with.

However, keep in mind the probability of meeting the former is probably lower than that of the latter.
