I have been there. Basically gained and lost the same fifty pounds for five years. Then I thought about why I constantly sabotaged myself. The answer for me was food was a comfort, I was afraid to be open to other people and try new things. So instead of going to the gym, book club, out with friends at work I would just chose the McDonalds drive thru. I was bored. Lets face it food feels good when we are eating it(taste great too) and when you have nothing else in your life that feels good it is great to have it as a companion. I am actually a very outgoing person with a great family and friends but I hid behind my fat. I did not have to face my emotions or relationships because I was fat and nobody would ever want to be around a fat person. I did not think I deserved to be thin. I had relationships, lots, but none were as satisfying as food. So after figuring it out I just said to myself one day I want to participate in life and food is not my life. I started on a weight loss program last year and have lost 120 lbs basically vegan diet - lost 65 the first three months. I know you have heard this over and over again but nothing taste as good as being thin. I go out to eat and it is a social event I don't have to finish everything on my plate to feel good. I talk, I sip wine, I eat until I am satisfied. My mentally has totally changed - I used to eat like every meal was my last meal - now I tell myself there will always be another opportunity to eat, I have thirty pounds to lose and I am hoping to lose it by the end of October - if you need any help or a diet buddy Im there for you. I know how hard it is and hope you get motivated. Honestly, you have to examine your relationship with food and find out why you eat. When you figure out why your okay being fat it will all come together. It may take a few more attempts but you'll get there.
