Gerberding, in which he alludes to a study by a Doctor Thomas Verstraeten, then representing the CDC, on the connection between infant exposure to thimerosal-containing vaccines and neurodevelopmental injury. In this shocking letter Congressman Weldon referrers to Dr. Verstraeten's study which looked at the data from the Vaccine Safety Datalink and found a significant correlation between thimerosal exposure via vaccines and several neurodevelopmental disorders including tics, speech and language delays, and possibly to ADD.

• Controversial Study Reignites Debate Over Autism and Childhood Vaccines
  Just months after the U.S. Institute of Medicine (IOM) released a report refuting claims that thimerosal, an ethyl-mercury compound used in vaccines, can cause autism in children, a congressional committee is now set to consider a study conducted on mice at Columbia University that finds new evidence of a possible link between vaccines and autism.
  In addition to resurrecting the long-standing debate, the new study raises concerns over childhood flu shots, the majority of which still contain thimerosal. Following earlier studies that appeared to establish a link between vaccines containing thimerosal and the development of autism, many parents have called for the removal of the preservative, which is a non-essential ingredient, from childhood vaccines.

• Someone please help!  I can't stand the pain!
  Well let me give you a little background info about this! This was about 7 months ago. I woke up one night with a horrible chest pain. I thought at the time I had slept funny and the some thing was out of place. It happened again the next month but I still thought nothing of it!
  Then they started coming more often. Maybe 2-3 times a month. so by this time I was thinking it was gas pains. But I thought it was odd that it was only on my right side, right under my ribs!

• Toddler passed stones?   by Melis
  My son who is 2, just had a BM with medium and small bright green hard stones I believe. I don't know if they are or not but they are very hard and when I washed them off they are definitively not feces. Is this something I should be worried about? He had loose stools for a few months now and the doctors office keeps blowing it off.

• Study stirs debate over full-body scans' cancer risk
  People who have full-body CT screenings to detect potential health problems are exposed to about as much radiation as some survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings, a study in Tuesday's journal Radiology reports.
  Proponents of the increasingly popular full-body scans say the exams are safe and can discover disease in early, more curable stages. The risk of cancer, they say, is too small to worry about.
  In Tuesday's article, however, researchers say the scans expose people to about 13 milligrays of radiation, which is about the same exposure suffered by people who were 1 and half miles from the center of the World War II atomic blasts in Japan, says David Brenner, the study's lead author and professor of radiation oncology and public health at Columbia University Medical Center. • More Platinum Found in Women With Silicone Breast Implants
  Researchers have found high concentrations of platinum in women who got silicone breast implants and in the children they bore and breast-fed afterward.
  The type of platinum found in the women's blood and urine was different than the traces of regular platinum not uncommon in people's bodies. It was a highly reactive platinum, used to help turn silicon oil into the honey-like gel that lends a more natural feel to a breast implant.
  Concentrations were up to three times higher than in women who didn't have breast implants, according to findings by S.V.M. Maharaj, a chemist at American University. Maharaj was scheduled present the findings Thursday to the American Chemical Society in Philadelphia.
