  My wife has an external tumor measuring 7cm below the nipple of her right breast. According to the Pet Scan technician this was the largest tumor she has ever seen. We have never had a doctor treat the tumor. A breast surgeon refused our request to have the tumor surgically removed unless my wife subjected herself to chemo and radiation which we steadfastly refused. This meant we had to take care of the tumor ourselves.

• Hepatitis B vaccine reactions
  I am lucky in as much as I do not seem to have suffered as severely (?yet), but I know, with no shadow of a doubt that the last in the series of 3 injections has caused me to have joint and muscle pain, mainly in the hands, which improves on rest and worsens on any kind of activity.
  Before each of the injections I was asked if I had ever had an adverse reaction to a bee or wasp sting...I have never been stung and told them so....no mention of side effects was ever made.
  A few weeks after the second dose I developed joint pain in one little finger, but put it down to the nature of my work. I was more careful, but it didn't improve...but never did I associate it with the vaccine, so went ahead and had the third without concern.

  Low-carbohydrate diets such as the one popularized by nutrition guru Robert Atkins lose their advantages over other diets within a year, a Lancet study said.
  People who ate less of starchy foods such as potatoes lost more weight in six months than those who trimmed fat and calories, according to a review of three clinical trials by researchers from RVA University in Copenhagen. The differences disappeared a year after the diets began.
  ``In the long term, people start to regain weight,'' Arne Astrup, lead researcher and a professor of nutrition, said in an interview. ``After one year, there's hardly any differences between the Atkins groups and low-fat groups.''
