There is a spcial on TV tomorrow night about 5 kinds of fish that have too much Mercury, and human consumption needs to be limited. The gasses from burned Coal contain Mercury, and when it rains, the mercury is removed from the air, and goes into the lakes and oceans. Mercury levels build up in the Oceans, and collects in the muscles of fish.

In Japan and Korea which consume large amounts of fish, there is a fish purification process, which takes a month or so. When the fish are caught in the ocean, the fish are dumped back in a large net, bouey area, which keeps the fish in the ocean, but unable to travel outside the 100 foot net. Shrimp and other seafood are raised with purified water, and the netted fish are fed the farm raised shrimp. Fish apparently get the Mercury and other toxins from the shrimp and seaweed in the Ocean. After a month of eating the farm raised shrimp, the fish are ready for the restaurant.

How we would ever get all that Mercury removed from the Ocean, seems technologically difficult. I feel guilty that I am part of the generation that is probably going to be considered responsible for having ruined the Oceans as a source of food supply.
