Good question. I've actually not heard or read anywhere (besides those who experiment) that it's o.k. to include sprouts such as mung or alfalfa. Mung is 35% protein and alfalfa is 20%.

Now, you can still go through detox while ingesting proteins like these, but I don't believe you go into the full effect of fasting, autolysis. You can still detox while eating raw, or going on a macrobiotic diet, or even eating healthier in general. It's just different levels.

Since everything I've read says it's best not to ingest protein, I'm not going to risk it until I find something reliable that says otherwise. I'd rather get the full effect from my effort, kwim?

Remember too that the process of autolysis breaks down proteins (in damaged cells and fat) and ends up reusing what good protein it finds. It doesn't throw the baby out with the bath water, per se.
