Thanks for writing. yes, I read a lot about food combining. I read almost every book there was about raw food diets.
The problem with raw food diets is that they are good at cleansing you, but poor at rebuilding you.
In other words, your skin looked better because a raw diet was helping you to remove toxins. But eventually (within a few weeks) you will not be able to get the protein that you need. Unless you eat lots of nuts which will hurt your digestion pretty quick.
Look, very few people do well on the raw diet. MOst people have lots of problems. The thing is that much of what the raw food authors say is just not true. for example, raw wheat is HARDER to digest than cooked wheat. Even if sprouted. Same with chickpeas. And same with other grains and beans. Sprouted almonds and sunflower seeds are about the only protein that is easier to digest than in the cooked form.
I highly caution you against going to a raw diet.
You are much better reading books like sally fallon's "wise traditions" and just eating healthy foods. And cleanse your liver too maybe. But the raw vegan thing just doesn't work for me or most people. I have never met a raw vegan who seemed to be in really good health who had been on the diet for more than 6 months. And I have met many who were in very poor health.
Now, if you were to eat lots of wild greens every day and possibly all dayu long then that MIGHT work. Because that is how apes live on a raw greens diet. And that is probably the last time man ate an all vegan diet.
