Kali Mera Larry:
Briefly, I just wanted you to know that I made the most delicious pot of lentil soup last night - it was so rich and satisfying and, I did think of you thinking, gee, if we were neighbors I would love to have sent over a couple of bowls for your and your wife.
Well, let me tell you - I had two bowls, not really SOUP bowls but none the less, two small bowls and I though I would just die - I cannot eat too much anymore - actually over the last few years or so I just cannot eat that much - and, I look at what they eat on TV on various shows and I wonder to myself, what do these people have, a bottomless pit???????? I don't, as a rule watch Oprah for instance, but if on occasion I happen to zip by and she her friend Gayle is on eating like there is no tomorrow all over the U.S. I just sit there with my mouth agape... why is it that you never see obese people in Europe - god, they say here that people overeat to fill a void - well, don't they think that people elsewhere have a void in their life? I just cannot understand the acceptance of such mentality.
As for your Greek genes (and I figured you were 1/4, not ALL Greeks are olive complected with brown eyes. My Mother's part of Greece, Tripolis, in the Peloponese for instance has blonds, with blue eyes. My mother looked what you would consider Germanic - 5' 8" tall - fair skin - light eyes, a Greta Garbo type - and her family were all very tall, 6' and over - my first cousins were platinum blond haired when very young - blond as they grew older - my Brother was fair skinned, dark brown hair and the most beautiful almond shaped eyes and 6' 2" tall with two Ph.D's - look who destiny decides to take at an early age and leaves behind......... My entire family on both sides had the most beautiful, classical Greek features.........depends on the part of the country you are from...My mother's area is mountainous (spelling?) hot during the day and cold at night (great sleeping weather)
Well, enough for now - sorry to go on - don't mean to be burdensome.
Have a great day Larry and don't forget a couple of bay leaves in the lentil soup. You can make it yourself when you're in the mood - you don't need to be a "chef" to make good food - just experiment - that is what they do afterall.
Best regards.
