Yogurt maker with plastic jars or glass only?

Hi, I'm getting sick of making yogurt with my thermos and tea kettle everytime. I'm currently living in thailand and my apartment doesn't have a normal stove. I finally found a yogurt maker at a store, but it makes the yogurt in plastic containers. I've heard some bad talk about plastic, but I see plastic containers all the time. Could I use it or is it a serious no-no?
