I had a root canal performed 8 months ago and kept experiencing pain after the procedure. I sought a 2nd opinion, a second root canal on same tooth was recomended- so I had it done. 6 months later, after countless x-rays, antibiotics, anti-inflamatory pills, pain killers, 3rd/4th opinions, I got my tooth extracted. When the tooth was pulled, there were 2 hard string looking threads going through the canals 1/4" inch past the tooth. This straight dental floss looking material was embeded in my jaw. I do not know if this material going thru the canals is normal. I don't know if a tooth that has had a root canal comes off clean just like a tooth w/ no root canal or looks different like the one I described.
