Best wishes to your brother on the diet! It really does work. My son has been completely healed of the disease for about a year now. He still has minor dietary restrictions, but that was learned through trial and error, and is probably due to allergies rather than the UC. Even still, he's had no symptoms or problems for a year now even when he cheats and eats the things he shouldn't once in a while. Three months of strict adherance to the diet and enemas (and a little common sense) was all it took! If you haven't already, I encourage you to read all of the postings in response to Sheldon's diet and procedure. Your brother will get all of the support he could ever ask for here (Sheldon is a saint in my eyes), and it's well worth the few months of sacrafice to be able to get back to living normally again!
