A doctor at the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential near Philadelphia wrote a report for doctors and parents of brain-injured children called A Bill of Particulars on Seizures and the Discontinuance of Anti-convulsant Drugs, in which he showed that, on a normal good diet and without any drug intervention, seizures naturally reduce in severity after each occurrence until they no longer occur at all. During seizures, healing seems to be occurring, as he noted that brain function often improves considerably immediately after a seizure episode. Anti-convulsive drugs appear to act like a dam across a stream: they suppress healing, so seizures become less frequent, but they become progressively more severe.
