You said "to be punished forever". It doesn't work that way. You get punished on the last day and that lasts forever.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life though Jesus Christ our Lord.

Any person that could think that God would keep a place of torment to hurt people forever and ever, because they didn't know how to love Him, can't have much respect for the one that knows the end from the beginning.

That would mean he wanted it that way. Right ?
