I know what you are saying, but here is my end... I'm 22 and we have been living together for over 2 1/2 years. I have papsmears regularly and my last one was not very long ago. Yes, I still make sure I will continue to get my papsmears on a regular basis... I am just saying that he has had this the entire time of our relationship, and something should have shown up in any of my papsmears by now. Also, I'm not trying to sound argumentive against you here, but more like seriously in agreement with you. I'm just trying to stress that I am on top of this as much as possible. Heck... I finally got my boyfriend to do something about this! For now I want to assure you that I am doing all that I can to be sure that I am doing whatever possible to be informed about this. My next papsmear is not far away and you bet I will be bringing up this matter. I've never had an abnormal papsmear yet, but I just want them to know that they need to keep their eyes out for this in particular. As soon as we found out what he had, I got on the phone with my doctors about the status of myself. I asked them if the tests (papsmears and STDs) that I have had recently done would have shown the HPV and they said that it would have. So I am strongl confident that I do not have it. But I'm not going to be naive about this, you can bet that as of yesterday I have been very concerned about it.
I was super aggravated yesterday because since it was his 21st bday, we work 3rd shift and his work buddies got him drunk at the bar afterwards. He was sick all day and didn't even feel like going to the doctor but I made him. Unfortunately I should have gone in the office with him because since he was hungover, he failed to ask many questions that he should have. He did pretty good, but I would have asked many more. He says he will ask them at his next appointment before the surgery. But... since you work for the health department, tell me this... is there any way of telling the chances of me getting it after the warts are removed? Sure, I realize we could wear condoms... but we aren't just boyfriend/girlfriend. We are more serious than that. He has already bought an engagement ring and I've been told that it is soon when he plans to propose. We want kids very much (though not till after marriage). So...even if we wore condoms, then what should we do when it comes time to want kids? Some people are lucky to have kids by only once forgetting to wear a condom (unfortunately these are often the people who do not want kids), but most people have to try many times before they are successful. So if you have any advice on this, it would be appreciated. But if not, it is ok because that concern is on my list to ask the doctor anyway. Also, please don't take this message wrong. I might sound rude but I don't mean to be. I guess I just think that you think I am taking this situation lightly, and I am doing anything but taking it lightly. Thanks for writing, though, I appreciate your input.
