Hi MG,
Thanks for your post, and of course I agree with all you say. It is certainly an interesting social experiment - this thread.
I came here several months back because I wanted to see if I was missing something very important to my spirituality. I was afraid. I had been wondering if perhaps it IS true that only Christians would be saved. That notion has never made any sense to me, but I also came from a Catholic backgroud, and these things get drummed into you, in spite of the fact that they make no reasonable sense. To me, God loves all and all you need to do is be the best person you can possibly be and treat others with respect and dignity, and approaching the world in this way has brought me great joy and peace. But still, I would wonder if the Bible was right, and that unless I pledged allegiance to Jesus and only Jesus, that I would not see a happy afterlife. So, I prayed. I prayed that if I was wrong and needed to change my ideas in order to be right in God's eyes, then please show me. So, I ended up here to see what others were thinking about Christianity, and to be honest with you, save for a few notable exceptions, what I found instead was a lot of hate, judgement, arrogance, prejudice, and not a lot of joy, tolerance and love. So, I asked God, why have you not shown me what I need to see? And he replied, "I did". :)
