I think those of us who take Iodine in doses higher than history advocates may have no clue about what we are doing, but it is also possible that we have more clues than most who eat and drink the packaged poisons sold as food.

I suspect many here did a lot of thinking and are now doing the self-testing you advocate by taking iodine.

Few people have your courage, history or perspective, MH.

I personally came here to Curezone originally because of gallstone attacks. I did liver flushes and several lemonade cleanses and the attacks are now totally gone and my digestion and elimination always pretty good is now excellent.

After the flushes and cleanses I noticed how much better raw food affected my body than cooked food ever had. Even changing the bulk of my food to raw I had recurring overwhelming cravings for beef - something that had interfered with dietary changes I had tried to make over my lifetime. I could not stay raw and regained some weight after a few years. In frustration I came back to Curezone to see what I could be missing or what else I might need to clean out. I read for weeks. I read your forum and the dental Amalgam Forum as well as the cleansing forums. And discovered this forum. I read many of the posts and links.

One link listed some of the symptoms of iodine deficiency. I recognized many of ny family's health troubles on that list. And one symptom was overwhelming cravings for animal protein. My family has a history of gall bladder problems, and when I thought about it, I realized they also had a history of thyroid, goiter and metabolism problems.

I continued reading and found that iodine daily over a lifetime protected people from horrible illnesses. And most could not get enough iodine in my country, not even the AMA minimum daily requirement - especially if they lived in an area called the goiter belt.

I read that iodine is used by the body and as with vitamin C any unused excess is excreted by the body in the urine. That some of the doctors had dosed their patients with amounts of up to ten grams of iodine daily for long periods with no negative side effects - except detoxification - and had cured many serious illnesses.

I had known about Linus Pauling and the mega doses of vitamin C for quite some time. People said he was poisoning folks with his advice. My father was interested in self healing and read books about the body and shared them with his kids. My father was among those who mega dosed Vitamin C for a number of years and encouraged us all to do the same. He also shared books about Macrobiotics, meditation, yoga, cleansing and higher consciousness with his children. It was not a big jump for me to begin taking iodine myself.

I began at 100 mg daily June 1, using both Lugol's solution in water and/or iodoral, did the dietary and supplement support protocol along with it and noticed some immediate changes. I did have detox symptoms, more at the beginning. They come in waves and mostly the salt push alleviates them. I had planned to take higher doses for 3 months or so and then cut back to a maintenance level the equal of what the Japanese ingest daily. I am fat and so would need substantially more than the iodine patient who weighs 150 pounds.

The biggest benefit has been the overall increase in my sense of well being. I feel stronger and better physically. I am not afraid. I had not realized how anxious I had been - that underlying anxiety is gone. In fact I am now the person I always believed myself to be - upbeat, compassionate, full of energy, tons of focus and clearer in my thinking.

My body temperature regulates itself differently. I do not get cold nor do I over heat easily. I am comfortable most of the time. I live in a constantly changing weather - The Bay Area in California. It can be sunny one minute and the fog can come rolling in and chill you the next. I never used to know how to dress to be comfortable. Somehow I do not have that problem anymore since I began iodine. And summer here is as unpredictable as the early Spring in the North East.

I am 50 - the age my mom and older sisters went through menopause. I am still having cycles. I feel very much alive and interested in sex again after a real lull of over ten years. I feel the electricity in my body like when I was 25. All the juices are flowing.

I am smaller around the waist and belly. I weigh about the same, but the more solid areas of my fat are softer, more jiggly. My whole body feels better to the touch and to be touched. My skin was always very soft, now it feels even more like silk. I recover from workouts faster and with very few aches or pains.

I am easily making choices now that had hung fire for years. I am clearer in my opinions and have less need to impose them on others.

So, maybe I do have a clue what I am doing by taking high doses of iodine on a daily basis. But that is a judgment call.
