Re: why do eggs cause gallbladder attacks?

I don't know much about this, but I'll tell you what I've read and experienced.

Apparently the lecithin sold once upon a time was derived from egg yolks. It was something to do with long chain fatty acids.

Now the source of lecithin seems to be soy.

Someone suggested that cooking and/or beating egg yolks breaks up the long chains of fatty acids, so, what I do is lightly poach my eggs, trying to 'set' the whites and leave the yolks soft. I almost always eat them with vegetables, often in salad, at breakfast.

Some say that undercooked eggs may still carry salmonella. I don't know, although I haven't been that kind of sick for many years.

I was raised with eggs as a primary source of protein.

I have had two eggs daily for most of my life...except for periods of Weight Watchers, which limits egg intake to four per week, substituting small amounts of cheese, or fish, for breakfast protein.

Although I know I have calcified gallstones, and I passed a large one spontaneously by eating large salads with olive oil and lemon juice, I don't think I have ever had a true 'gallbladder attack'.

I have felt very sharp 'twinges' from a herbal tea liver flush, 'prickles' of gallbladder contractions, a 'scooting' of large stones in the duct, and 'heaviness' of stones...but no real 'attack'.

That's my understanding, so far.

P.S. I read the posts by Telman and Chava (above) after I posted this.

I need to study what they say, but they certainly ring true, in my experience.

Between my two Humaworm parasite cleanses (today was the last day of my second), my husband and I underwent regular checkup lab tests.

I received no comments from the doctor, but my husband was called to inform him that his 'cholesterol count' was on the high side of the 'normal' range. Doctor didn't suggest anything be 'done' about it...just wanted him to know.

Since bacon and fried eggs, or a bacon sandwich, has been his preferred breakfast for decades, we thought that going without bacon for a while might be a happy choice.

Bless his heart, he did...still having eggs several times a week...although, without the bacon, he had one-egg sandwiches most of the time. Usually his eggs are fried in butter, or, before, in bacon fat.

Recently he started back on the bacon.

Sometime in this last week or two he has complained of a tiredness; and for some time, since before he went off bacon, he has found his nose running. Some nights he even gets up to blow.

Perhaps these symptoms are totally unrelated to bacon or eggs.

Dh is 83, and has always been an active and particularly healthy man.

I have never been a bacon person, but I do like butter...and cream sauce, though I don't eat it often. I have switched, say, half of my fat consumption to olive oil and coconut oil, plus some sesame oil.

I am about a hundred pounds overweight (6 or 7 stone?), and have been slowly creeping down for at least a year, probably due to sugar and starch management in my diet. I suspect the long-standing excess weight is due to parasites, and I hope to drop weight with parasite cleansing. I am 69.

Now to study the above posts for pieces to the puzzle.
