Within the iodine supplementation forum, in most all cases the negative "side" effects experienced while taking iodine are regarded blindly as "detox" symptoms, or, too much too soon, with little more than copious written data on iodine supplementation and urinary analysis to guide people through; no one "knows" for sure what is happening to them during supplementation without thorough, individual testing and the $$$ to pay for it.

In pharmacological studies, those with negative responses to a treatment are thrown out or explained away... and most people buy into pharmaceuticals as being "wonder" drugs. Side effects of drugs are grossly underreported and brushed aside as being caused by something unrelated to the drug itself leading to many mystery illnesses and deaths that have no "known" cause. I believe this same phenomenon is occurring in the Iodine Supplementation Forum. More open minded attention should be given to "side" effects. The archives should be scoured for those who have come and gone from high dosing and try to find out correlated reasons as to why... setting aside the obvious banning and/or shaming and/or chasing out of the forum for going against the status quo. Hopefully that posted data is still available to the moderators as hidden posts and has not been deleted. One would hope that any commonalities would not be put together and brushed aside as "detox" only without knowing for sure. Iodine toxicity symptoms are identical, or very similar to, other halide toxicity symptoms and should not be brushed aside as bromide and/or fluoride detox alone. Caution and care should be exercised.

I do not doubt the need for iodine in the diet at all, nor do I doubt the critical need of iodine for health, and even perhaps as a higher dosed medicine in some cases. However high dosing on a whim, or out of fear of bromide and/or fluoride and/or a metal toxicity may not be such a good idea, even if there is a diseased state involved... there are no short cuts available to health and wellness without an inevitable price to pay at some point.

I think Edgar Cayce and Dr. Jarvis got it right, for the average man/woman, in cycling iodine doses; low by the iodine supplementation forum standards.
