  • Goat milk does have beta casein by North  9 days   31  Ask Dr Eric Bakker

Eric, this study says goat milk DOES have beta casein, just like cow’s milk does: ... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18024728 ...   [End]

  • Beneficial bacteria don't love "increased pH" by North  18 days   51  Ask Dr Eric Bakker

Beneficial bacteria don’t love ”increased pH” though, increased ph means higher ph numbers which is more alkaline. Alkaline, great for your blood, but in your gut, where most beneficial bacteria live, those bacteria will be happier with acid. That’s why ”Acidophilus” is called Acidophilus: the word means ”acid loving” in Latin. ... ... Maybe you and I are saying the same thing, I could not tell from your wording. Point is, we wouldn’t want newcomers to get the wrong idea about ph in the gut.   [End]

  • That site only using colloidal silver? by North  24 days   140  Candida Support

Well, I’m not Eric, but have a question for you - I went to that site (uniquehealing.com) to see what other antifungals that program discusses, beyond the silver, and couldn’t find any - just discussion about colloidal silver, bentonite, probiotics, and things to help probiotics grow. ... ... Were there other antifungals somewhere discussed on that site, that I missed?   [End]

  • I'm so on the fence about calcium by North  53 days   68  Candida Support

I’m so on the fence about calcium, First it ”helps prevent the candida growth that magnesium causes in a study”, then elsewhere we read that calcium aggravates biofilm (presumably this includes yeast biofilm). I’d read both theories awhile back, and since then have been worried about whether to take calcium or not. ... ... Here’s another study, and if I’m reading it right I think it says that EDTA chelates calcium out of biofilms, thus weakening the biofilm: (EDTA is easy to buy from various online vitamin supplement websites). ... ... • Other enzymes and biofilm, relation to bacteria by North  53 days   118  Candida Support

Here’s two more links. The first one discusses fibrinolytic enzymes like nattokinase and lumbrokinase, and how to use them to break up biofilm in the gut. ... ... A summary of what the doctor in that article is doing is: ... First he has patients take enzymes and EDTA, then thirty minutes later take various antimicrobials (rotating berberine, artemisia herb, echinacea, goldenseal, gentian, tea tree oil, fumitory, oregano oil, neem, etc). Then an hour later taking binders to help mop up the debris (binders like charcoal, chitosan not to be confused with chitinase, citrus pectin) ... ... • Did you start the special tea on same day as probiotics? by North  54 days   311  Bad Breath / Candida Su / IBS / 4

Can I ask, did you start the special tea on the same day as the day you started probiotics? ... ... I wonder, because some people seem to not do well on probiotics unless they also take antifungals on the same days, and other people get improvement with probiotics alone. Just wondering if you had used the probiotics alone for any number of days before adding in the antifungal tea, or did all start on the same day...?   [End]

  • Yes! Chitin/ase excellent question. Calcium too? by North  54 days   110  Candida Support

Yes! Chitin/Chitinase excellent question. I can’t type long tonight, but you have a supporter over here in asking that question. What I’ve been able to dig up about chitin and chitinase has been only small, not-quite-there studies (that I found anyway), and I really wonder if there’s some unlocked potential there. ... ... Also, there was is a study (link is below this note) about magnesium causing candida growth, and calcium stopping that growth. That seems so under-publicized, and have any follow-ups been done to see if calcium prevents growth in candida in other circumstances too. Like, ...   [retrieve this message]

I believe caprylic acid is not phenolic. From what I understand from past reading, phenols in foods and herbs generally have a smell. Not sure where I read that. ... Caprylic acid comes in capsules, tastes a little like soap, but doesn’t have much smell at all, if that helps.   [End]

  • How does baker's yeast survive the oven though? by North  67 days   160  Candida Support

How does baker’s yeast survive the oven though? Just a sciency question - I can’t eat yeasted bread OR Sach. Boulardii yeast, both of them give me instant problems, but was always curious if the commercial baker’s yeast in premade bread is just something some of us are allergic to, or does it actually survive the over-300 degrees baking temperatures...   [End]

  • Try a different starch by North  74 days   124  Candida Support

Try a different starch. Some people who I’ve read experiences/stories have noted similar problem: becoming intolerant (temporarily, hopefully) to a starch they have been eating often. ... ... Maybe you could try, for example, cooked buckwheat, or buy some quinoa flour and bake a simple pancake with that. the idea is to pick some other safe-sounding starch, and try it instead of the brown rice that now seems to be cause you trouble. ... ... • Make sure the warm place is really warm enough by North  3 mon   424  Probiotics / Candida Su / Immunity

Make sure the warm place is really warm enough. I grow yogurt from capsules now and then, and looked up the growing habits of probiotics - most of them like temperatures above 90 and below 110. The warm place you were setting the experiment may not have been that warm if it was just someplace in your house? I use a yogurt maker that controls the temp, if that helps.   [End]

  • Best times of day to take vitamin D and take it with a fatty meal by North  3 mon   725  Candida Support / Swine Flu / Cancer Sup / 4 / 5 / 6

There was a study I saw that showed much more absorption into the blood when people took vitamin D with a meal that has fat or oil in it, rather than taking the vitamin D with just a carb snack with no fat or oil. I agree, some carbs are necessary. • Vegans switching to meat, what kind for adrenals by North  18 mon   730  Candida Support / Adrenal Fa

Vegans switching to meat again, the broth (see first post in this thread) is actually an easier to digest food than chewing and swallowing chunks of meat or poultry is. The slow long simmering process of the bones, cartilage, and whatever bits of meat are stuck to those bones slowly breaks down the matter, and releases some of the amino acids, making the end result easier to digest. ... ...
