N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) is a commonly used nutritional supplement for the self-treatment of conditions such as arthritis. Researchers in Japan, using a murine model of oral candidiasis, found that GlcNAc increased symptoms of oral candidiasis. It was also found that the increase in symptoms was related to the increase in dosage. GlcNAc has been shown to play a role in the conversion of Candida albicans from its normal yeast form to its pathological fungal form. At first glance, it appears that chronic kidney disease itself alters the intestinal flora. After careful consideration however, this isn’t the most likely cause of what was observed by these researchers. Someone with chronic kidney disease would have had multiple and at times non-stop rounds of antibiotics during the course of their disease and treatment over the years. Even one course of antibiotics will greatly alter the composition of the intestinal flora. A 5- or 7-day course of antibiotics will destroy all of the bacterial flora in the intestinal tract and most everywhere else ...

Gluten Allergies and Candida albicans ... ... ... Hwp-1, also known as Hyphal Wall Protein-1, is an amino acid within the cell wall of Candida albicans that enables Candida cells to attach to the intestinal cells. The sequence of amino acids that make up Hwp-1 are identical or highly similar to the proteins, α-gliadin and γ-gliadin found in gluten (Wheat, barley, rye) products. When Candida attaches to the intestinal wall, the body’s immune system responds. The cells of the immune system don’t recognize the Hwp-1 as being separate from the intestinal cell. It sees them as both being a p ...

Hey everyone, ... I just wanted to give an update, in case people were wondering what it’s like to be on the plan. Just yesterday, my boyfriend declared that the plan must really be working. When I asked what made him say that, he replied that I was ”less inhibited and hindered” by the candida symptoms (like I was more present to him thanks to no brain fog) and that I tasted different when we kissed. The latter part weirded me out a little, and he couldn’t really describe it for me, but he could tell that there was a significant change in my body over the last 7 weeks. ... ...
