Blog: My First Master Cleanse
1/30/09 – 12:20 p.m. Day 6 is about half over and I have a little bit of a headache. It might be from letting too much times pass between lemonades. I had a Dr.’s appointment this morning and it was about 3½ hours between my first and second glass. I think I’ll go make another one right now. I’m still experiencing hunger every now and again. I keep thinking that it’s only temporary and I’m improving my health, which is my goal. I do have a major concern though…my birthday is on Feb. 2nd and I’ll be on day 9. I’m pretty sure that my mom will want to take me out to dinner, so I might tell her that I’m not feeling well and let’s just meet as a family and lavish me with gifts :). She wouldn’t be very open to idea of intentionally going without food for 10 days, and I’m not interested in trying to convince her that this is good for me both physically and mentally. Not to mention that I wouldn’t want to tempt myself by sitting at a table full of food. Maybe she’ll just give me cash and call it a day…fat chance of that happening.
7:05 p.m. I’ve already had 7 lemonades and I’m feeling great. I just read a comment that someone left for me and it has inspired me to not only complete this cleanse, but to do so with a smile on my face. I noticed that I had the most MOVEMENT on those days that I had 8 or more lemonades. I’m going to aim for 9 again today. I mean this is why I’m here, why take a short cut and only have 6 or 7. I would be doing myself a disservice, and I’m not interested in that.
HOLY CRAP!!! Superbowl Sunday is this SUNDAY!!! Oh man, I guess I’m going to be watching the game by myself. Going to a party with chips, dip, wings, beer, whatever, all within my reach might be bad :).
10:00 p.m. Day 6 is in the history books and it was a pretty good day, considering I haven’t had anything to eat in 6 days. By the way, staying upright after drinking the SWF is the way to go. I’m really getting used to the program. Drink the SWF, stay near a toilette for the next hour and a half, then drink lemonade and water all day and try to keep your mind busy. I’m getting better at it. I think it will actually be a bit weird to get up in the morning and not drink the SWF, or feel hungry and be able to eat. Glickman does write that you can still drink the SWF to flush your system when you’ve eaten something that’s not that good for you. I’ll keep that in mind.
I was reminded today, while reading that comment, that just because the fast is over should not be a green light to pig out. I’m actually thinking a lot about fruits and veggies and they sound delicious. I’ve read about a lot of people finding that they are craving raw healthy foods more after the cleanse. For me I’ve always enjoyed fruits and vegetables, and as a matter of fact I just became a vegetarian about 3 months ago. I am finding that I’m craving the fruits and veggies but it’s more about not undoing what I’ve been working so hard for. 4 more days to go and I can break the fast, I know that if I keep my mind occupied elsewhere, day 10 will be here before I know it.

FANTASTIC!!! Only 3 more days to go - and you´re smiling - great! BRAVO!! :)))
Here´s one more "motivational" thought/idea to tell yourself: you are giving yourself a super birthday present - nice clean "insides", like when you were born!
If it were me I´d tell Mama to postpone the invitation (or give me the mu$$ah instead!!!) - but I would´nt say about not feeling well: because you are probably feeling really good - with all those smiles and lemonades LOL!!! Guess if you said you had a certain type of diahrea that´s going to be clearing up real soon, it´ll be almost true.
With the SuperBowl coming up - that´s going to be a toughie..... How about you took a lemonade with you and sip on it thru the evening!! When I did the 9 day one, and had to travel hours away from home, I´d put a ready made one (sometimes 2) in a glass container (with lid!) - had straws handy and then whenever I had the "urge" to eat or quell hunger pangs, take out my glass container (usually in the car!!) and voilá..... But of course with people around, I´d put it in a pretty glass.
Had read that the SWF worked best on an empty stomach - as in the am after getting out of bed, which I´ve never actually tried. So it´s good to know that this can be done at any time.
My best wishes for whatever YOU decide to do and hope you don´t mind all my "suggestions" - but that´s really all they are. YOU of course know best!

Thanks for your suggestions. Actually that's a good idea. I hate to lie and actually I do have a bit of diarrhea that will clear up in a few days. I appreciate the suggestion about the Superbowl, the only thing is, I'll have to explain why I'm only drinking lemonade. Some may be supportive but some will not and I'm not interested in defending myself to anyone, I shouldn't have to. That's kind of the main reason why I haven't mentioned it to anyone, this is difficult enough without any negativity. Actually now that I think about it, maybe I will go. I mean I'll be on day 8, I'll be almost through with the cleanse and what a challenge that will be. And I do love challenges. Thanks again for your support and your suggestions.
