Art:Spirit Owl   10 y
MORE Eco Art! "Eco Art by mayah" utilizes reused materials and earth friendlier art supplies.
Eco Art: "Spirit Owl" by mayah (c)2012 This was an Eco MaG that I decided to refurbish and frame. The piece is attached to the front of the frame so it can "stick out" in 3-D effect, rather than be put behind the glass. The rippled cardboard is packaging from an old light bulb--they don’t make light bulb packaging this way anymore and I miss it!  The background photo of the forest from a calendar is wrapped with plastic from packaging; the owl sits on top of the plastic and sticks up for a bit of 3-D effect.   Eco Art: "Medi ...   read more

Shocking EcoArt!   10 y
"On first glance, every piece in artist Chris Jordan’s collection, “Running the Numbers,” appears to be simply a beautiful work of modern art. But look more closely, and you’ll see that each piece depicts the enormous amount of natural resources we consume and throw away – represented by plastic bags, light bulbs or packing peanuts. Here’s a sample of works from Jordan’s thought-provoking collection."
”Caps Seurat” by Chris Jordan, 2011 From ”Shocking Eco Art: Our Waste by the Numbers” ”Look closely at this homage to Georges Seurat’s famous painting, ’A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte,’ and you’ll see the 400,000 plastic bottle caps Jordan painted to represent the average number of plastic bottles consumed in the U.S. every minute.” ”Bottle caps are often so small that it’s easy to overlook the impact they have on the environment. If you drop one on the ground at the ...   read more

Fire helped our ancestors in many ways, bringing them warmth, protection, and connection to the heart wisdom that kept life in balance."   "The Huichol People of central Mexico still follow the age-old shamanic ways of their ancestors, an unbroken wisdom-bridge stretching back into the Paleolithic. My Favorite Music from Playing for Change/Peace Through Music, featuring Grandpa Elliot in New Orleans singing Stand by Me and in Los Angeles Dodger Stadium singing God Bless America--I've never heard it sung this way before, and it brought tears to my eyes! - From the award-winning documentary, ”Playing For Change: Peace Through Music”, comes the first of many ”songs around the world” being released independently. Featured is a cover of the Ben E. King classic by musicians around the world adding their part to the song as it travelled the globe. While the Playing For Change Band was in Los Angeles, Grandpa Elliott received a special invitation to perform at Dodger Stadium. To open the game, Grandpa played a soulful rendition of The Star Spangled Banner on his harmonica. And then during the seventh i ...   read more
