General Q and A 17 y
Just though it might be a good idea to have a thread for questions I haven't "blogged" about yet.
Hopefully I’ll remember to keep checking back on this one, especially after it goes off the top page. I don’t get email notices when there’s a reply, so don’t think I dissed you if it takes a while till I respond ;-) visit the page
Epistemology 17 y
How do you know what you know?
n. 1. The theory or science of the method or grounds of knowledge.
The Ultimate "Master Cleanse" 17 y
There seems to be a "cleanse" for every internal organ-- except the human heart.
In these alternative health boards we learn of many different cleanses: liver, colon, etc. But what can be done for the human heart? Surely no one can look at the history of the world, or even just its current state, and not see that there is a major disfunction deep in the human soul.
To many people, good and bad are relative terms. Good is understood to mean average. The rationale goes like this: ”If you’re good more often than bad you’ll probably wind up in some kind of heaven. But even if you’re more bad than good, God wouldn’t send you to hell, so be as bad as you want and still ge ... read more
The Way We Were 17 y
Dispelling some popular misconceptions about Christians.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Christians aren’t born Christians, they are sinners who USED TO BE the objects of God’s wrath but ... read more
Christophobia 17 y
Hatred for anything Biblical is reaching epidemic proportions.
Remember that blog entry on evolution? Still don’t believe it’s a religion? Read this from a letter received by Ken Ham of AnswersInGenesis and the Creation Museum:
”Ken, needless to say, you are insane. People like you need to be exterminated.
I hope some group or individual does their part to rid people like you from society. It may take one year, two years, five years, or ten years, but hopefully something awful will happen to you and your family.
You could do everyone in the USA a favor and hop in your car (heck, bring your family too), head down to the nearest river, lock the ... read more
Churchianity 17 y
What does the Bible say about "church services"?
Let’s start by taking a look at the NT references for gatherings of believers:
”21Jesus declared, ’Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.’”

UFOs and the Spirit World 17 y
What does the Bible say about non-human beings and the paranormal?
2 Thessalonians 2:11
I believe ETs are demons, and UFOs are their craft, possibly in cooperation with humans (specifically the military). I believe this because of the things they do and say, and because of the way their ”spacecraft” move and appear.
The things they do are characteristic of those who worship Satan: experimentation with human reproduction, mutilation of cattle (specifically, removal of the reproductive organs, left eye, anus, and every drop of blood, as well as mutilation of the right side of the body beca ... read more
Evolution is a Religion 17 y
The conflict between creationism and evolutionism is a struggle between two religions, not a scientific dispute.
Quotes By Leading Evolutionists
** We take the side of science in spite of the patent absurdity of some of its constructs, in spite of its failure to fulfill many of its extravagant promises of health and life, in spite of the tolerance of the scientific community for unsubstantiated just-so stories, because we have a prior commitment, a commitment to materialism. It is not that the methods and institutions of science somehow compel us to accept a material explanation of the phenomenal world, but, on the ... read more
Acting Lessons 17 y
When non-Christians tell Christians how to act like Christians, they act just like the Christians who are not acting like Christians!
Why is it that people who despise the Bible and Christianity feel the need to tell us how we’re supposed to act? They have no clue. They make up Christian behavior rules of their own and then criticize us for not following them! If we acted the way they think we should, we’d be between a rock and a hard place, because if we’re too different they say ”Who wants to live like that?” but if we’re too much the same as them they say ”Why become a Christian?”
Instead of trying to please people who will condemn us no matter what we do or don’t do, let’s let God define our behavior, and He says ... read more
God Who? 17 y
Who is the God of the Bible? What is He like?
Many people say they reject the God of the Bible, but they do so largely out of ignorance. They reject a ”straw man”, that is, they have a distorted view of God and are rejecting that. Let’s look at what the Bible says about God.
Scriptures showing that God is Love
And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, ”The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness...”
Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love ... read more
Let's Rap! 17 y
A more detailed look at the Rapture.
Note: To properly understand the scriptural teaching about this subject you must first understand Dispensationalism. It will help keep prophecies about these two events clear. For a detailed examination of the Rapture in light of dispensations see this article.
These two sets of scripture passages show that the rapture and the second coming are two separate, mutually exclusive events.

The End Is Near! 17 y
Where we're at in Bible prophecy
Luke 21:31 ”Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.”
Saving Faith 17 y
An attempt to narrowly define how a person becomes a Christian.
What causes choice? Some believe that each and every choice must have been caused by an event (event causation). But this does not answer the question at all; it only pushes it back one level (what caused the event that caused the choice?). I believe there is another cause of choice: sentience or free agency. This is, IMO, the way in which we were made in the ”image” of God. Agent causation is primary; it requires no event. That is the nature of any ”first cause”. God is the First Cause of everything and everyone, but He saw fit to create others in His image, so we are also ”first causes” ... read more
Psyched Out 17 y
Is psychology compatible with the Bible? Is it even scientific?
The word psychology is based on the Greek word for soul. God is the final authority on the soul, but psychology is man’s futile attempt to find a scientific cause for bad behavior. In fact, there is not one laboratory test for any psychological disorder. And this so-called ”science” is based on the teachings of such anti-Christians as Freud and Young, and ultimately on the theory of evolution.
Obviously, psychology should have no place among Christians, since the Word of God alone is sufficient for all our needs. But psychology’s ”self-esteem” has become a popular phrase in churches ... read more
What Have You Done For Me Lately? 17 y
Untangling the confusion between Faith and Works (deeds)
First, a definition: when I say ”salvation” in this topic, I mean permanent residence in heaven, not rescue from sin or physical danger.
As explained in the first post in this blog, salvation is a gift. You accept it by putting your trust in the Jesus of the Bible, in what He did for us on the Cross, which is to pay for all our sins. This is all that determines whether you go to heaven or hell. It has nothing at all to do with living a holy life or doing good deeds, because you can’t earn a gift.
Of course, people will scream, ”So you have a license to sin! You can be as evil ... read more
Will the Real Holy Spirit Please Stand Up? 17 y
Many claim His guidance to interpret the scriptures, but who is right?
People like to criticize us when we say we rely upon the Holy Spirit to help us interpret the scriptures. They say ”So everyone says the Holy Spirit guides them, but they all disagree. How many ”Holy Spirits” are there?”
But what they don’t realize is that the Holy Spirit is not in the business of making cookie-cutter Christians, but building up a Body. We each have a different purpose, a different vantage point. By telling this person one part of the truth, and that person another, it takes all of us together to form the big picture. One Spirit, One body, but different parts.

One God Fits All? 17 y
Are all religions really worshipping the same "god"?
Previous Page, Page 1
The religious world today is ecumenical, meaning ”let’s drop the things that divide religions and blend them all into one”. This sounds so nice on the surface, but let’s look a little deeper. The rationale of ecumenism goes like this:
--Peace is the most important thing in the world.
--All the strife in the world is largely the fault of religious differences.
--Therefore we must rid the world of religious differences.
One approach to achieving this goal would be the ”frontal assault”, where people are threatened with punishment unless they give up their doctrinal uniqueness. But su ... read more
