Step by Step...
...Bit by Bit...

The scale finally started moving in the desired direction, and is showing a 2 lb. loss; plus the loss of the 2lbs I gained after switching to the G.I. diet. Inadvertently, I also observed how eating within a calorie defecit for a while, and then eating at maintenance cals can move the scale. I've been eating approx. 1250-1350 cals per day, but a day before I lost the 2 lbs., I came home and had a sandwich and some good old fashioned junk food - Little Debbie Nutty Bars. I love America! Then I had some sugar free junk food - more cookies - one chocolate chip and a few peanut butter cookies too. The ingestion of these items pushed my calories to maintenance level and the next day I was amazed! I don't think I would have made the connection had I not been writing down my daily food intake and continuing to weigh. That process has been invaluable to me; because it lets me know what's working, and what's not. I joined an online challenge to include 20 minutes of resistance exercise 3x a week, and got started this morning. I went to the gym and used the weight machines and did ten minutes High Intensity Interval Training on the treadmill, then walked for twenty more minutes afterward. I thought I would really hate it but I didn't. On my goal list: To get more organized so I can get up earlier to say my prayers, get to the gym and then take my walk to work.
