There is a real satisfaction to blogging this each day. I think to myself, "Oo! Day FIVE!" So, I am 1/6 of the way through. I think I'm going to have juicing parties on the real marker days either 10, 15, 20. I'll let you know.
Last night I had some pretty strange dreams, as I've been having the whole time I've been fasting actually. Also, I keep getting these intense feelings of heat in different parts of my body. Before it was my face, particularly my left cheek. Last night, it was my back. I just had this feeling of really red heat on my back, which makes me hope that something is healing itself.
Anyway, I'm currently drinking quite a bitter concoction. Lesson I've learned: White Grapefruit is a thousand times better than pink. It's not so damn bitter.
Drinking now--in a very pretty color of pinky-red:
-1.5 cups of blueberries
-1 pink grapefruit
Ugh. I really didn't like that juice earlier. It seemed so bitter. I wonder too if maybe I didn't juice that pomegranate correctly. Either way, I feel pretty crappy at the moment--mainly because I'm having god-awful period cramps. I know: too much information for the gentlemen out there.
I took the dogs out for a really short walk today--I think 25-30 minutes only--just out on the paddock in front of the house and up and down the lane. I couldn't be bothered to even change out of my pajamas as the cramping is so horrendous. I do tend to get pretty heinous period cramps, so I don't think this is a ramification of fasting; though the fasting may possibly be accentuating the pain a bit.
I don't really feel like drinking any juices at the moment. I'll have another green one later on when I feel more like it, but I think a hot bath may be in my best interest momentarily.
Also, funny to note: I dreamed of eating cinnamon rolls last night. Now I'm craving garlic bread. So funny what the mind concocts as neither of those have much nutritional value at all!
The vegetable juices are starting to feel really nice. I just read online someone who criticized anyone who drank fruit juices during a juice fast and it made me feel like shit. :( *sigh*
Anyway, currently drinking (and liking it):
-2 cups spinach
-1 head of bok choi
-a handful of kale
-a handful of lettuce
-1 red pepper
-a tiny bit of cucumber and celery (all that remained!)
-a chunk of ginger root (far too much ginger!)
The vegetable juice seems to have momentarily soothed my cramping....
Drinking another vegetable juice now. Not as good as the one earlier. I won't be remaking this:
-1 head of bok choi
-1 stalk of rhubarb
-1 cup of broccoli
-1 tsp spirulina
-1 cup of spinach and kale mixed
-the rest of the curly lettuce
I'm actually beginning to exhaust my vegetable stockpile. I'll need to get more cucumber and celery soon, but I'm impressed at how long the stockpile is actually lasting.
In the meantime, I think I'm probably just in a kind of down mood given that I'm not feeling particularly stellar at the moment. Funny: cravings are running high right now. Coincidence? I think not. This is exactly the type of mentality I'm trying to break!
Kwok and I had some orange juice together as he hasn't felt very well today either. I'm definitely having major food cravings, which I would imagine are attributed to my period.
I also took some psyllium husk tonight--and I was worried it would cause my digestion to kick in again--but thankfully it hasn't and its help stop an upset tummy. It's a good thing I'm getting this period business out of the way before the fast was further along.
Okay, Kwok and I are in the middle of watching Love Actually; he just got up to make tea.
Then I'm going to read in bed and hopefully get some good, craving-free-dream sleep.
