Bonnie Little, founder, Albion PA. Invited Dr Esselstyn to come and meet them. She read Esslestyn, Campbell and Fuhrman, and found that all these intelligent men agreed, and they were doctors.
During the introduction, she tells how she was told by her doctor that she had high blood pressure and needed medication. But she doesn't do medication, so she came back after 30 days and fixed it her self by googling nutritional lifestyle and eating vegetables and fruit.
In 2005 she went to Expo at Saratoga Springs NY and went there to thank Esselstyn and Campbell personally. She met Esselstyn, and is now on a mission.
She says that if you accept surgery or medication, "you relinquish your rights to control your health"
She couldn't believe her luck when Esselstyn and his wife accepted the invitation, but they produced a excellently edited video of a lovely little talk to a small audience of around 20 to 30 people.
The message he wants to share is that the most chrinic killing monster - heart disease and strokes, is merely a toothless paper tiger that should never exist, and if it does exist, it should never be allowed to progress.
10 mins slideshow starts
Military deaths, young men show evidence of coronary disease during post mortem. Problems start to occur at age 12.
Mention of Lew Kuller MD
"All males aged 65 and females aged 70 have cardiovascular disease"
World was 2. During German occupation of Europe, they took away animals from people. Heart attack deaths plummeted. After the end of the war in 1945, animal foods came back, heart disease and stroke rose. This drop was better than any modern drug can achieve.
16 mins, important phase in presentation
Shows a slide show of how heart problems occur that will give you the creeps. It is what happened to TV journalist Tim Russert who died on 13 June 2008. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Russert
The presentation continues, criticising the advice of the USDA
and trashes their food pyramid http://www.mypyramid.gov/
Mention of Nitric Oxide and Roobert Vogel's Brachial Artery Test http://www.umm.edu/doctors/robert_a_vogel.html
Mention of how this test was applied to people who had a McDonalds breakfast. Damage to endothelial cells. Terrifying.
Talks about breast cancer, and prostate cancer. Once again comes down to American diet.
Detailed information about about Nitric Oxide and DDAH. It seems that all the crap we eat ruins the production of Nitric oxide.
Strictness and moderation.
Eat crap and take pills solution. But the downside... no thanks.
Drugs. Pfeizer drug killed more people that a placebo. Harvard Health Journal. Q&A of a man who wondered why his health deteriorated after a triple bypass. Reply: Best that can be hoped for is to stall rate of progression. Esselstyn completely disagrees.
Esselstyn has studied this for over 20 years, back as far as 1985. He started with "the walking dead" (medical write offs). He fixed them. All of them.
Cancer patients. His colleague Burt said "Patients with cancer are not afraid to suffer. Patients with cancer are not afraid to die. But patients with cancer are afraid to being abandoned, by their physician, or by their family". Once again, Esselstyn fixed them. He complied with the cancer patients fears by seeing them regularly, as per the advice of his friends. He was seeing them 20 years later.
In the 1920s the wheels came off the cart when every food manufacturer started putting oils in their foods. Ratios of omega 6 to omega 3 oils wrong. Message: Trash the oils.
Lists foods, once again Kale and Collards get mentioned.
The importance of food. Food trumps it all. Esselstyn comes across as being merciless and very strict on his dietary regime.
Monel Chemical Census Center show that you need a 12 week break to get off your fat addictions http://www.monell.org/
X ray images showing improvements in arteries.
Doctor Joe Crow, who replaced Esselstyn. http://my.clevelandclinic.org/staff_directory/1/staff_581.aspx
He had a heat attack. Nearly died. Could not use stents. Got depressed. Esselstyn and his wife went round his place. They told him about plant based diet. New angiogram (slide shown to audience - "reversal of coronary heart disease). Completely fixed. Unbelievable. It sounds like he gave Esselstyn a big slobbery kiss, which Esselstyn is not used to, lol!
Esselstyn: "The body really wants to mend itself. We've gotta give it a chance"
6 patients who Esselstyn released, he had no money for his research. 2 died, 4 had bypass surgery again.
The other 18 on the diet, 17 of 18 had no coronary effects. One did not stick to his plan and had problems.
Once again the disease is a toothless paper tiger. Esselstyn's people are alive and healthy 20 years on.
Now it's dementia. Age 50, little white spots on the brain. Mini strokes. Cause memory loss. Down to diet again. Shows MRI. Shit I hope my brain doesn't look like that.
Finally the work of Pierre Aramenco, a French surgeon. Debris on brain. New England Journal of Medicine. Many people after bypass surgery have reduced have significantly reduced cognitive function. This is not discussed pre-op. Brain damage. Sod that.
More MRI slides. Once again, diet improves nitric oxide.
400 metre walk test. Fit people live healthier lives.
Pics of bacteria (artists impression). Talk of duodenal ulcers.
Talk of diabetes. That gets fixed too. And osteoporosis. She is peeing away her bones because she is on an animal diet. One week into plant based eating she is down to normal levels.
"The seismic revolution that is going to occur in health in this country is never going to come from universal health coverage. Is never going to come from inventing another pill. It is never going to come from inventing another procedure. The seismic revolution will come to come when we have the grip fortitude to share with the public - What is the healthiest lifestyle that you can possibly follow."
Funny photo of old lady doing the splits.
Part 4 - some jokes
His eldest son Rip. He has produced a book too. Questions. Loads of clapping. Dedications.
That was bloody brilliant!!!
The audience clapped even though most of them were probably baffled!
Presented by Albion PA USA.
