Day 5

Doing well. Need some guy advice.

Yesterday went really well. I was clear headed and I accomplished a lot. I started taking a little coconut oil to make sure I don't get candida or at least kill off the last of it.

I did have a bm, but it was not solid whatsoever. In fact, that reminds me: If you are juice fasting, you must remember that if you think you have to flatulate, do yourself a favor and just go ahead and go to the bathroom.

So this is day 5. My system should be shutting down by now. I did wake up with quite a headache, but it seemed like a dehydrated-type headache. I really have to fight to keep hydrated.

I wish my herbs have already arrived, but they haven't. And they won't until I am gone on business travel. I am trying to work on my mucoid plaque in my large intestine and colon. I have an okay shape, but I always have that little buddah belly no matter how small I feel.

I measured my waist last night. 30.1". Ugh! Now, my concern is that I am going to gain this all back when I start eating again. Unfortunately my boyfriend is a great cook, and when we got together, I gained 15lbs. I keep trying to explain to him that you don't have to eat and eat and eat. You can still enjoy good cooking but with small portions. He keeps gaining weight, and I just don't get it. How do I tell him that? I try to stay slim as respect for both myself and for him. I would like him to do the same for me.

My problem is that I have an eating problem: If it's in front of me, I eat it. Is it an addiction? It's more of a behavior. I keep trying to explain to him that putting large amounts of food in front of me is like putting alcohol in front of a former alcoholic. Also, as pointed out in a study referenced in "In Defense of Food", Americans use visual stimulation to let them know that they are done, i.e. empty plate, bowl, etc. Whereas, in countries that eat slowly, they use physiological signals, such as the brain signaling that you are full. I have tried explaining to my boyfriend that eating is not a race. It's okay to eat slowly. Enjoy the meal. Enjoy each taste.

Any advice is welcome. Guys? How do I tell him he needs to lose weight? (His ex-wife bought him a BMI scale...lovely, huh?) He was about 30lbs lighter when I met him. How do I tell him that it would be nice to have dinner together instead of a race? I realize it may seem superficial, and if you want to tell me that, that's fine...just be nice about it, please? (Just as I am trying to be with him.)
